File Transfer Protocol (FTP), represents the most famous means for transferring website content to a hosting account. Using an FTP program that is pre-installed on your desktop PC or laptop, you can connect to your web hosting server and copy all the web files that you want with a few clicks of the mouse. You can do this via a simple-to-navigate GUI and it is as easy as dragging and dropping the files in question. The advantage of using FTP is that you’re able to set up several accounts, each one with a different level of access to your online storage space, so if you want to grant someone access, for example – a designer, they’ll be able to access only one specific folder and won’t be able to view the remaining content or any other information, such as personal details. Three must-haves are needed to be able to establish an FTP connection – a hostname, which is usually an IP or a domain name, a username and a password.

FTP Accounts in Web Hosting

You will be able to create as many FTP accounts as you need with any of the web hosting offered by our company, since we have decided not to limit this feature. Thus, you can run multiple Internet sites at the same time or grant other individuals access to separate folders. As soon as a given task has been fulfilled and you would not like that person to be able to access your files anymore, you can modify the password associated with the given FTP account or you can just delete that account with a couple of clicks of the mouse and stop worrying about somebody connecting to it again. The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which is included with all shared plans, will allow you to see the full list of the existing FTP accounts shown alphabetically. It takes only one single click to manage various options for any of them – to edit the password or the access path, to download an auto-configuration file, etc.

FTP Accounts in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you host your sites under a semi-dedicated server account, you’ll be able to create a separate FTP account for each of them, as we haven’t restricted this service with any of our semi-dedicated plans. You can accomplish this via the FTP section of our simple-to-navigate Hepsia hosting Control Panel where you can also view the complete list of all the accounts that you have created, together with the folder that each one of them can connect to. If needed, you will be able to update the password for a certain FTP account or to change its access path with a couple of clicks of the mouse. You can also delete an account without effort in case you do not need it anymore – for example, if you have hired a web developer who is finished with the site and you don’t want them to be able to access your web files any longer. For the sake of convenience, we’ve made a number of how-to video clips, which will help you manage your FTP accounts without effort if you’ve never used a web hosting plan previously.

FTP Accounts in VPS Servers

None of the VPS servers that we are offering includes a limitation on the total number of FTP accounts that you can manage at any moment, so you can set up an FTP account for each website hosted on your VPS, irrespective of whether it’s under a domain or subdomain. Furthermore, it does not matter which hosting Control Panel you’ll choose when you subscribe – DirectAdmin, cPanel or Hepsia, as an FTP server will be set up on your VPS during the configuration of any of them. In case you want different persons to be able to make a connection to the very same folder using their very own set of login details, for instance, it will take a couple of clicks of the mouse to set up an FTP account for each one of them. Removing an active account or changing the folder that it can access is just as simple and you won’t need to deal with any problems, even if you lack prior experience in such matters.
